Munting KasiYEYhan is an outreach program organized by the Junior People Management of The Philippines- Pamantasan ng Lungsod Ng Maynila Chapter— that aims to uplift and inspire children. One of the primary objectives of JPMAP-PLM is not only to give children joy and happiness but to provide the children of Sampaloc Manila something that they can look back on as they reminisce about their childhood and the people who became a part of it. Thus the event was held last May 21, 2023, at Barangay 409, Zone 42, Sampaloc East Manila from 2:00 pm up to 4pm in the afternoon.
The event was commenced by laying all of the rules or "Rules ni Ate Apple" moderated by Ms. Apple Villaespen, the Director for Corporate and Social Responsibility, and Ms. Aila Ferrer, the Chairperson for Corporate and Social Responsibility. There are two rules for the event: 1) Always listen to Ate Apple and the rest of the facilitators and 2) Have fun and enjoy the activity. It was followed by a solemn prayer led by Ms. Ashley Villardez, the Committee Officer for Corporate and Social Responsibility. After the prayer, it was time for the welcoming remarks presided by the Chairperson of the Corporate and Social Responsibility, Ms. Aila Ferrer, wherein excitement was evident among the faces of children.
The first activity for the day was entitled: Galaw Go. It was presented by the Chairperson for Events and Membership Committee, Ms. Danica Esteban, along with the committee officers and representatives. The kids danced the basic dance steps of the “Team Yey Song,” where the kids asked for an encore since they enjoyed dancing to the song.
The second activity of the day was entitled: I-kwento mo. It was presented by the Committee Officers of Research and Publication– Mr. John Angelo Liwanag and Mr. John Larry Ramos. The title of the story is "Ang mga kaibigan ni Buknoy". Where the kids learned the importance of creating smart decisions and helping one another in times of need.
The third activity of the day commenced entitled: Makulay'To. It was presented by the Committee of Marketing and Creatives and was led by its chairperson, Ms. Bianca Florido, along with her committee officers, Ms. Rafaella De Jesus, and Ms. Andrea Sales. The mechanics of the activity is that the kids will create an artwork by stamping their hand print on a piece of paper then they will decorate it in whatever design they like. The kids have fun while designing and drawing their art works as it really shows in the smiles that are painted on their cute and bubbly faces.
When the third activity was completed, it was time for the fourth activity and it was entitled: Game na tayo! The activity was led by the Committee Officers of Fellowship, Wellness and Sports Committee, Ms. Cieanne Espino, and Mr. Jim De Guzman. The mechanics of the activity is that the kids will be divided into groups and they will land paper airplanes on a designated spot. Overall, despite the heat of the sun, the kids really enjoyed doing the activity and you can feel and hear their laughter and their sense of enjoyment.
The fifth activity for the day is entitled: Talento, wherein the activity was led by the Director of the Ways and Means Committee, Ms. Irish Martinez, and Chairperson Rey Lagoc. The mechanics of the game is that they are still divided into groups and the representative of the group will mimic a picture and the rest of the members will guess what they are trying to interpret like a game of charades. As this is the second of the last activities— the competitiveness of the children kicked in but in a good way in such a way that they have really done their best to win the prizes.
Our last activity of the day was entitled: Salo Salo. It was presented by the National Convention Committee led by its Director and the President of the JPMAP-PLM, Ms. Aleyah Garma, with her committee officer, Luigi Longanilla. The kids will decorate their cupcakes using sprinkles, little cookies, and chocolates. There is no winner in this activity and everyone will eat the cupcakes that they have designed once everyone is done decorating their own cupcakes.
After all of the activities, it was finally time for the gift giving wherein food and all of the goods that were provided by the organization and our dear sponsors, were given to the kids of Barangay 409. The event was officially concluded by Ms. Apple Villaespen, Director for Corporate and Social Responsibility and the Assistant Secretary of JPMAP-PLM.
Overall the outreach program was a huge success as we can see that the organization made a simple mark in the lives of the children based on their smiles, laughter and the way that they enjoyed all of the activities. A huge thank you for our dear sponsors and to everyone who has made this event possible. Thank you for giving some of your resources that will benefit the children. Hoping that the JPMAP-PLM will continue this kind of activity in the near future.
