Jessa Yuki David, a 23-year-old student from BSBA-HRM, is the owner of FLEXIT—a go-to active wear buddy in reaching fitness goals that started way back in December 2021. She believes that with their breathable and flexible wear, people can dance, relax, take a mirror selfie for their day's outfit, and do anything else they love because people deserve to flex it.
Her burning passion for trying a business venture kicked off after being motivated by their senior high school entrepreneurship project. This motivation of hers demonstrates how a little love may grow into an incredible business opportunity that can ultimately enhance a person's life. But running a business is not always rainbows and butterflies. The pandemic surge has impacted Yuki and her co-founder's first business, which resulted in its closure. But they returned stronger and launched a new product line with a more aligned vision. With this, she realized that you must love what you do to enjoy every second you spend with your work. She signifies that every business leader should aspire to possess the kind of love that results from a strong passion.
Yuki also proves how it can balance academic life, extracurricular activities, and professional accomplishment. For her, being goal-driven and having adequate time management are the primary keys to juggling all her responsibilities. She also pointed out the importance of constantly weighing your priorities and having a good backup plan, particularly in business. By operating her firm, she has also improved her decision-making skills in handling her finances. Her entrepreneurial journey teaches us that taking risks and failing is better than not trying. Moreover, she became inspired to use her personal experiences to uplift others after realizing the importance of learning from failure.

She is only in her 20s, but Lara Maglalang has already owned a business that sells wholesale and retail direct to factory price of pet supplies on an online shopping platform called Shopee. Together with her significant other and business partner, Patrick Kyle Guevarra, they sell pet essentials, medicine, grooming, feeding, and habitats supplies. This excellent student from BSBA-OM established her business last October 2020 and is still flourishing today.
Lara's desire to open her own business ignites from her childhood. What makes her journey more inspirational is her certainty in her dreams. She is determined about what she wants and how she will achieve it. Lara did not grow from a well-off family and simply had access to the necessities of life. This situation encourages her to look for a job at 16. From these experiences, she realized that you would never be wealthy working for somebody else. Hence, she works her way up and eventually becomes the boss of her own business. One thing that keeps her dedication flaring is the guidance of business-minded people around her. After all, consulting others is central to effective decision-making. Sometimes, the easiest way to absorb wisdom is to acknowledge that you need support and direction from your dependable mentors.
Indeed, having one foot in education and one foot in professional life is challenging. But Lara shows that everything is possible if you know all your obligations and how to handle them. Since she still doesn't have face-to-face classes, monitoring her business and studying gets easier. Lara also found a technique to boost her productivity in 2023 by micro-managing her tasks using Excel. Her inspirational story serves as a reminder that even the most minor actions toward your objectives can lay the groundwork for future success. If you are sure of what you want to do, stay focused so that it takes the least time and effort to reach your goals.
The fact that these successful HROM students used their bright ideas to produce something cutting-edge is one way they share in common with illustrious scientists. Although they create their pathways in distinct ways, the light and power they possess are recognized by them both, and they use these inner resources to further their own and others' growth. You are reading these stories right now. But you might be one of these tales tomorrow. As Oprah Winfrey's famous quote says, you need to find what sparks a light in you so that you can illuminate the world in your way.
