"ELOQUENCE: Art of Business Writing," the first chapter of this year's PROGRESS: Chapter Webinars, was held on November 11, 2022, with the goal of equipping participants with the lifelong knowledge required to effectively adapt to the digitization of Human Resources and Operations Management. PROGRESS1 – ELOQUENCE served as a prelude for the JPMAP-PLM's incoming chapter webinars.

The program started at 1:00 PM with the moderators, Nicola Tapan (Chairperson for Research and Publications Committee) and Aila Ferrer (Chairperson for Corporate and Social Responsibility Committee), having a quick chat with the attendees. The Vice President for Internal Affairs, Micaela Aira B. Garcia, gave warm, welcoming remarks and quoted Lee Iacocca, "You can have brilliant ideas, but if you can't get them across, your ideas won't get you anywhere." She highlighted the importance of conveying your thoughts to your audience through writing concisely and creatively.

The JPMAP-PLM Chapter was lucky to invite Mr. Francis Ion Cariaga Sangil as their guest speaker. Mr. Sangil discussed the principles of business writing – purposes in the human resource facets, forms, content, ways to organize your thoughts, email etiquette rules, and additional tips. He also emphasized more about the considerations of the recipient of the writing. Information should be digestible and easy to read, especially for sending emails. Always double-check the

content before sending the email; the intent should be straightforward while maintaining formality in your writing. Sir Sangil also suggested using professional photos and email addresses, setting out-of-the-office messages, and including a signature block. Through his experiences in the HRM and education fields, the guest speaker's proficiency in business writing was clearly demonstrated – which the participants greatly benefited from.

The attendees also participated in the icebreaker, "Don't Blink," which was facilitated by Vince Mortos (Director for Fellowship, Wellness, and Sports) and Janna De Leon (Committee Officer for Fellowship, Wellness, and Sports).

The program ended with closing remarks from the organization's Secretary, Lady Laryna M. Mallari (event organizer and Director for Research and Publications). She thanked all of the JPMAP-PLM Chapter's officers for contributing to the success of the event as well as Sir Sangil, Prof. Jonathan Villote (adviser), sponsors and partners, attendees, and her co-event headsApple Villaespen (Assistant Secretary), Nicola Tapan, and Aila Ferrer. She believes it is vital to incorporate eloquence into writing, which creates maximum impact.

There were also online activities days before the webinar proper. Activity1: Email Sign-Offs, where the participants displayed their humor and wit as they commented on Gen-Z slang as email sign-offs. Activity 2: First Three Emojis, where participants were asked to comment three emojis to describe how they would feel if they received a promotion. The winners were selected based on the agreed criteria and were given cash prizes.
